who is behind Departure Bay media?

Departure Bay Media is founded by me, Tyler Hay, and is a new venture to combine my media skills and business management.

After graduating from Lethbridge College with a diploma in digital communications and media in 2020, I moved to Vancouver Island and settled in Nanaimo with my wife, where we are raising our twin sons.

I have worked in media since 2018 and got my start in sports photography before training to be a journalist. I have worked as a reporter and editor in a few communities on Vancouver Island and a couple years as a reporter and radio news anchor in Lethbridge, AB.

My seemingly insatiable desire to learn new things led me to other businesses while consistently working as a news reporter, including painting, hazardous material abatement and small engine repair.

Departure Bay Media is my way to use the skills I have picked up in business and my media skills to bring value to the community I chose to call home.
